The Delaware VMA is pleased to introduce the new Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) program. Veterinary assistants now have the opportunity to advance their knowledge and learn the skills needed to increase their value as a member of the veterinary practice team.
The Delaware Veterinary Medical Association now recognizes and certifies the designation of Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA). As such, DVMA, in partnership with Animal Care Technologies (ACT), is proud to offer veterinary medical personnel the opportunity to expand their professional growth by offering an online CVA program.
This CVA program creates a solid foundation for animal health professionals, enabling them to become more informed, skilled, and trusted members of their teams.
Approximately 40 hours of videos and web based training on basic veterinary assisting fundamentals.
A CVA must demonstrate competency in dozens of foundational skills.
On-the-job training is an important element in this educational model. The CVA is required to accumulate 500 hours of practical, supervised work experience.
An online exam comprised of 100 randomly generated questions insures that CVAs possess a sound knowledge base.
Online training at any time, day or night, where a high-speed internet connection is available.
Gain a sound knowledge base to be a more effective and valuable member of any animal health team. Gain hands-on experiences to demonstrate competency in dozens of foundational skills.
A veterinarian or RVT/LVT will mentor the student throughout the program to assess and verify their skills along the way. Students in the program acquire their online education along with on-the-job practical experience and then go on to take their final examination online.
The CVA Program is included with a subscription to ACT Online Training, starting at 10 user seats. Additional seats are available as needed.
An applicant fee of $150 is required for certification. The fee must be paid prior to the administration of the certification exam.
